Preparing for the Second Coming FHE Lesson

***If you're having trouble viewing/downloading/printing these lessons, feel free to email me at wawadehut@gmail.com and I will email you the PDF files. ***

This lesson was one of my first ones that I ever created and it's still one of our favorites.  I love the quote from Spencer W Kimball referring to the parable of the Ten Virgins:

"The foolish asked the others to share their oil, but spiritual preparedness cannot be shared in an instant. . . . This was not selfishness or unkindness. The kind of oil that is needed to illuminate the way and light up the darkness is not shareable. . . . In our lives the oil of preparedness is accumulated drop by drop in righteous living."

The drop by drop concept is one I find very comforting, as it seems so much more attainable than instant perfection and  I think it's important for children not to be overwhelmed by such big concepts as preparing for the Second Coming.  The lamp/oil drop activity in here is perfect for illustrating that concept.

My kids also really love that game.  Back in the day I hand colored 22 of those for my FHE groups.  I think it was shortly thereafter that I figured out how to use the inkjet refill kits for my printer cartridges.  I hope you enjoy this as much as we have.  :)

all of these have probably been a ton of work for you, and even if you never put another one I am so grateful for these, our FHE have been so much better ever since we've been using these, the girls especially are enjoying the lessons and games, these have been perfect as before this our family home evenings were sometimes all over the place!! Now they actually pay attention AND ask questions!!

thank you!

i just wanted to say that this blog is awesome!! you have put a lot of work into it and the lessons are amazing. I haven't used them for FHE, but I needed to find the "preparing for jesus to come" board game for a primary lesson and this was the only place that I could find it. so thank you!
